Dr. Sharifah Adlina Binti Syed Abdullah
Dr. Sharifah Adlina is currently the Section Head for Regional Cooperation in International Division, Ministry of Finance Malaysia. She has been with the Ministry of Finance since the year 2000. She has assumed various positions at various departments within Ministry of Finance. Dr. Sharifah Adlina began her career with United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd in the Credit and Marketing Department. She was previously a director of Amanah Raya Berhad.
Dr. Sharifah Adlina has an upper second class honors degree in Business Administration with banking major from the Northern University Malaysia and a Master of Science in International Economics, Banking and Finance from University of Wales United Kingdom. She also has a Diploma in Public Administrations from National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).
Dr. Sharifah Adlina has a Ph.D. in Finance from University Malaya Graduate School of Business, where her thesis topic was on bank risk and deposit insurance premium. During her Ph.D. candidature, she spends three months under the supervision of her co-advisor at RMIT University, Melbourne. Her paper entitled Bank Risk and Deposit Insurance Premium in a Dynamic Panel Model: Evidence from Malaysian Dual Banking System won the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal Research Excellence Award at the Malaysian Finance Association Conference in Kuala Lumpur in 2013.
